UltraSharp 2001FP Review...

I was looking at several highend LCD for graphic/web design, Apple Cinema Display, Eizo CG line, Formac 2010. After asking around online someone pointed me in the direction of the 2001FP and after reading many reports and an incredible coupon I picked on up. I could have almost gotten 2 for the price of any other highend 20" LCD. So then the waiting begins...

Get the monitor after a couple days and promptly hook it up. I must say it looks much better in person than in pics, but still no Apple or Formac. Hook it up to my Mac via DVI and fire it up... nothing, just some default hardware test screen that's moving around???? Oh I would have to switch it from VGA to DVI, much better!

First thing out of the box is WOW, gorgeous picture and the colors are almost spot on. Run it thought the Monaco calibration to get it closer and jump right in to some color correction. I have my desktop as an 18% gray so it doesn't screw your eyes up during C.C. and I'm thinking wow not a single dead pixel... but that was about to change...

I switched the background to solid black and noticed a red 1, no 2 no 3 no 10... wait what's in the top left corner a freaking constellation of stuck pixels... insert curse word here.

Call Dell up and a replacement is on the way. Hopefully this one is a winner. I felt bad, on anything other than black, you can not see them, but a defect is still a defect.

To sum up I got a dud, but it is really an amazing display for a great price ta boot. Plus Dell's customer care was top notch. If I got a dud from Formac, I'd probably be out the $1300.

Here's to a dead pixel free one!

Wow, 10 stuck pixels! They consider a few to be normal. I replaced an LCD in my sister's laptop and there is one pixel that is dark against white and white against dark, vey tiny. She hasn't noticed, and it meets "industry standards", but not mine..I hope the next one is the one you keep.

allroy-

I've seen very few posts from 2001FP users regarding dead or stuck pixels, so your report is really unusual. Based upon what I've read here on the forum, you can reasonably expect the 2001FP to have zero bad pixels. My 1901FP had one sleepy pixel for about 2 weeks and then it woke up. I've had no problems thus far, after 6 months.

Color me a happy customer too! No dead/stuck pixels 3 months and counting. I just have the ATI to DVI sync box checking thing, but that doesn't appear to be a 2001FP deal. More of an ATI deal!

My experience is a perfect monitor is the norm. I've bought a 2001FP, and earlier two 1702FPs and a 1504FP and none have any dead pixels.
