UP2414Q, Rev A03, Wake Up/Half Screen/Wrong Screen resolution issues

Hi there,

I have a Rev A03 Version of Dell UP2414Q Monitor manufactured in Dec 1014.

I am trying to use it with Windows 10. My Graphics card is Asus GTX 980 Ti with the latest NVidia Driver.

I tried with the DisplayPort Cable which came with the monitor, I also bought several different Display Port 1.2 Cables from different brands and tried. I could manage to get Display Port 1.2 work at native 3840x2160 @ 60Hz (as I could confirm from dxdiag) but it is very difficult to start the PC without experiencing half screen, wrong screen resolution (sometimes on one half of the screen, sometimes whole screen), wake up issues even at start up etc... I have to switch off / on the monitor several times to get it working normally, and sometimes I can not manage it at all...

My S/N is : CN-0WWRHC-74445-4CI-072L

Is this a production error?

Regards

You have the newest version and firmware. Is there another system to test on to see if the issue follows the monitor?

I tried it with my Macbook Pro, there are similar issues...

I contacted the Dell Support and they will be replacing the monitor...

I am just worried that the problem will continue with the new one as some users are complaining the board build quality...

"I contacted the Dell Support and they will be replacing the monitor..."
Did they give you a dispatch number or order number to track? Did they give you an SR number?

No I don't have those numbers.

I contacted them today and they told me that the monitor would be dispatched soon.

My only concern is the problem will continue as there as similar complaints even after the replacement...

When you contacted them today, did you ask for those numbers for tracking purposes?

If you purchased the monitor directly from Dell, you would have received several email containing the invoice (order number, customer number, etc.) in addition to the paper invoice that was in the box.

No, I did not bought it from Dell. I bought it as 2nd hand but it was an unopened box. There was no receipt, but it is produced in Dec 2014...

Monitors without a service tag number purchased from resellers (Amazon, Best Buy, Buy.com, Cost Co, Walmart, Sams, other online store, eBay, Craigslist, etc.)
* Based on the monitor 20 digit PPID serial number date code start date, Dell will warranty the monitor for 3 years for most monitors. There are exceptions (S2340M, S2340L, etc.) which only had 1 year warranties. 24" and smaller Dell monitors do not get a service tag number so you cannot "register" them using the Dell online tools
* You must contact Technical Support for your country by phone. Tell them to open the Dell internal only Oracle Knowledge Information center
* In the search blank, they should enter PNP13081, then click Search. This brings up the article,
"Dell Monitor Replacement Policy and Procedure - Dell Global Policy". They should read Scenario 7 =

Discussion = The warranty will be 3 years from the embedded date in the 20 digit serial number.
Solution = Set up the monitor replacement against the dummy tag.
* You would provide the following data to the representative if you ever need a monitor replacement within that 3 year period:
Brick or Online Store:
Monitor model:
Monitor 20 digit alphanumeric PPID serial number:
[Your]
Email address:
Name:
Shipping address:
Phone number:
Operating system:
Video card:
Video card ports tested:
Issue:
Troubleshooting performed:
* Monitor Factory Reset done
* Monitor failed Self-Test and Built-in Diagnostics
* Post further troubleshooting

Unfortunately the problem continues. But;

  1. It is worse with a displayport to displayport cable (I tried with 3 different brand which supports 4k @60hz)
  2. Displayport tp Mini Displayport is better but "not" without any problem.
  3. It is worse when Uniformity Compensation is "ON"

I am not sure what else to do...

Is there anyone who do not have "any" issues with UP2414Q @60Hz?

My Graphics card is Asus GTX 980Ti with the latest driver...
