UP3214Q problems
Hi,
For about two years I have a Dell 4k Monitor UP3214Q connected to a Dell Workstation (gpu Nvidia quadro 5000m).
I use the original DisplayPort -> minidisplayport cable. Everything was working fine (beside some issues with not waking up from standby when using 60hz, which seems to be an unsolved Problem for that monitor ).
Then, suddenly, there appear green or dark pixels in the displays corners when moving complete white windows. I could feproduce it with a laptop and an hdmi cable. Also in the monitor selftest the dark artifact was visible when the display was completely white.
I work in Japan, so I was asking Dell Japan for a replacement. They send me a new model after a week. After one day, the screen suddenly frezzes. I first thought it is the computer, but it was the monitor. After turing it off it was dead. The led turned on, but no backlight, no menue - nothing. I tried the old monitor - was working. So I called Dell Japan and the forced me to try stupid things which were impossible. So they finally send me an replacement for the replacement. This one died exactly the same way after two days. Then, after again going to a stupid procedure, they have send me a third one. I was using it for one week. Then it died as well in the same way. All of the replacement had the same revision. Unfortunately, I have already sent back my initially broken but working monitor. So only Dell garbage on my desk now. I should mention that any non-dell monitor works fine. I further have replaced several cables with the new cables they have send me with their replacements.
Now they are internally negotiating for several days how to continue.
Since everything is Dell, they only can blame their computer or their monitor. I don't care, but I really fear that they are stupid enough to send me the same display again. We paid about 10000 dollar for the workstation and the monitor + support and already one month passed without a satisfying solution.
We were considering buying two new Dell cluster servers, but now we have doubt that this is a good idea.
Anyone else out there with a similar experience ? Is Dell only sending broken hardware to Japan?

The exchanges should be in working order. Per the purchased warranty, you are eligible for like for like (same model) used exchanges. All you can do is keep getting exchanges until you get one that is functional.

You're not alone, @Henrikkirneh.
My issue was with dead pixels, and I have been through 5 monitors, on my 6th one iirc. 2 were refurbished, others were new. The most recent one was according to Dell, from a different parts supplier, which would supposedly fix things. Among the replacements, I had ones that had bright pixels, and one that would not display anything at all (probably DOA). The most recent one has a cluster of dead pixels in the middle of the screen, which was worse than my original monitor.
I'm still in the process of getting this sorted out and its approaching 2 months plus. It's resource consuming, and inefficient.
My experience with the 3214Q. batch after batch of faulty panels. I'm still waiting for an explanation.
All the best sorting out your problem.
