Ok, for my Dell work, the U3415W 3440x1440 60Hz  is a better "fit". We can attribute this to the many tools I need opened and their layout. Once I get the Alienware X51-R3, I will bring the UP3216Q back for game testing.

I was sent one of these as a replacement for a U3014 because they didn't have any U3014s in stock.

While I am happy to be upgraded to a newer 4k model, there are some growing pains with 4k. Like you mentioned, the ~140ppi of the UP3216Q makes icon and text size a bit awkward. Both the U3014 and U3415W are close to 100ppi, which renders text a near perfect size without scaling. I am currently on Windows 7, and will need to upgrade to Windows 10 soon to take advantage of the HiDPI features. You can scale text and icons in the Control Panel in Windows 7, but program interfaces remain tiny.

My unit also seems to have a slight gray balance shift from one side to the other (greenish on the left and purplish on the right), even after hardware calibration. It looks the most obvious on the gray background in Lightroom and Photoshop, and is also visible on the gray screen in the self-test mode. Does yours exhibit the same issue?

On the plus side, 3840x2160 does look amazing. There is a lack of 4k content currently, and gaming at 4k will stress any GPU, but that should change in the next couple of years.

Finally, do you have access to any information on the LQ315D1JG03 panel? I'm interested to know if it is a true 10-bit panel (without using A-FRC) and what improvements it has over the LQ315D1LG9D panel that was on UP3214Q.

No. And I do not see any data about it in searches.

DCCS 1.5.10 (Update for UP2516D, UP2716D, UP3216Q) has THE SAME ISSUES as previous versions and like versions greater than 1.5.3, there is no way to use a gamma different that is not 2.2 or sRGB. If you set 2.35 or 2.4 as gamma, DCCS takes 2.2 value.

Disappointing

They must have decided to lock it since 1.5.7.141118, 1.5.8, 1.5.9, and 1.5.10 all have this limitation.

WHY????

I mean, let's say it's OK wil all 1.5.3 limitations & issues (no L*, few native ramp measurements)...but now (1.5.10) DCCS is more limited than i1Profiler!!!. Gamma values of 2.35 or 2.4 could be useful to video with sRGB/Rec709 gamut emulation.

Does it cost that much to put a "combo box" for gamma than allows user "sRGB", "constant value" or to load a fotmatted TXT with 256 point desired gamma curve values in 0..1 range???

With this situation no need to buy this generation of dells, with 200-300 euro additional budget than UP2716D you can get a fully working widegamut NEC plus uniformity compensation and fully unlocked hardware calibration and gamut customization.

I mean, that is not your fault, but some people at Dell's R&D are doing things in the wrong way for too long.

Is hdcp 2.2 used?

Chris,

I just installed Dell Display Manager (latest version: 1.6.10) to have it automate switching between CAL1 and CAL2. I am noticing that when switching to either CAL1 or CAL2 (manually or using DDM), the display blacks out for about three seconds and then comes back with the new preset. When switch to any other preset, the screen also blacks out but for a much shorter period of time (more like a flicker).

My old U3014 did not exhibit this behavior. It would switch to another preset without blacking out the screen, and I would quickly click back and forth to compare images in different color spaces. Is there a way to change the behavior of the UP3216Q so that it does not black out when switching presets?

I do not see any way to change this black out time. Mine does the same when choosing a different Zonal Color Space, but not for 3 seconds. Even then, I would not exchange it unless you were still inside the first 30 days from the purchase date. Outside of 30 days you would get refurbished exchange.

Yes.

Is this something that can be addressed with a firmware update? I'm finding that I switch from Lightroom and Photoshop (which are both in CAL1) to browser/email/file explorer (which are in CAL2) and then back again quite a bit, and the blackout time is reducing my productivity.

Also, if you have a chance, can you time your blackout time going into CAL1 and CAL2? I am still within 30 days, so it would be worth looking into if there will be a significant improvement.

Hi DELL-Chris M, I just bought the UP3216Q along with two Gtx 980 Ti graphics cards.  My main goal is to have the best 4K gaming setup possible.  I have been gaming on a 30" HP LP3065 screen with 2560 x 1600 resolution for years and have not noticed any problems such as flicker or overchooting.  Will I be introduced to issues like this with the UP3216Q?  What is the input lag that I will most likely experience?  Will it be more than my previous monitor?  I honestly didn't notice any problems with my 30".

I am not using Cal because I do not have the Xrite i1Display Pro device. I was switching between:
Off
Adobe RGB
sRGB

A firmware update is a costly venture to Dell. To even justify the ask, I would have to present 30 or more UP3216Q customers reporting the same issue and all 30 have been issued monitor exchanges that failed to address the issue.

I have not noticed any input lag. I do not see any hits for, "UP3216Q input lag". It may be too early in the sales cycle for this data to be appearing on the web.
