vertical red line on E2209WFP

About two years ago I bought a desktop and an LCD screen directly from DELL.COM Not long ago, a thin vertical red line appeared on the screen (DELL's E2209WFP), and it won't go away. I know it's not a driver/cable problem because the line is still there even when I disconnect the screen's VGA cable and the 'No VGA cable    E2209W' message appears. I would like to solve this before the line expands into a band like I saw in other posts.  Please help.

The monitor is defective. If you bought the monitor bundled with the PC, then the monitor uses the PC warranty period. Is the PC warranty still valid?
