Vibrating screen, HELP it stop PLEASE.

I am running a p1110 21" multiscan display on my dimension XPSB866r.

I just recently moved and when I started my computer back up the entire display was vibrating very rapidly, I have only been able to mask the flicker by dropping my refresh rate to 60 hertz but it is killing my eyes.  One symptom also possibly related to the vibrating problem that began occurring before the move and is still occurring might be a redraw issue?  When I go to some web pages the ENTIRE display would quickly bulge towards me......

I thought a lot of these issue were do to a another faulty video card, i went ahead and upgraded it.....but it did NOT help at all.

Does any one have any suggestions ideas?

Thanks,

Bret

Try swapping your original monitor w/ a known good one to check if the problem persists in the other monitor.

bsanders72,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Here are some things to try and resolve the issue with the monitor.

  • Perform monitor reset
  • Check environmental factors
  • Relocate and test in other room

You can click the link to view the controls on the monitor if you need to change some settings.

Well, I went and plugged a new monitor in and I am getting the same vibrating efffect. So I know it isnt the video card and it may not be my monitor. Any ideas?

I once set a monitor too close to a magnetic field and got vibrating effect like that. Try hooking the monitor and computer in a different room or area.

thanks, that's what it was.  All of my apartment unit power boxes were attached to the out side of the wall where my computer was plugged in. Once I moved the monitor the problem was gone.
