You can use either one of the connectors, but not both.

I just wondered if it made any difference, because the VGA was connected when i bought it but when i turn it on it comes up Analogue input detected and i was wondering if i was suppose to do anything.

In theory DVI will give better quality because the signal does not undergo conversion to analog then back to digital again. In practise the difference is not great.

The message you see is just an information message telling you which input is active.

DVI will have a MUCH better/clearer picture than a VGA connection.

as long as you're using quality cables you will not notify ANY difference. I would assume that since both cables came with the monitor that both are rated to meet the specs required for a good signal on that monitor. I've used both VGA and DVI on the 2407 at max rez and they both look crystal clear.

even AFTER the vga signal goes through a splitter and then a selector, granted, both are powered and quality devices, but if it can maintain clarity through the extras, then it'll do it without them as well.

My 2707 too.
With a VGA cable, I get a "shadow" (echo) on the right.
With a DVI cable, the image is perfect.

dvi will provide a better picture and slightly improve performance 3-6 fps in a game, dending on settings and such.
