DDS License for Virtual Libraries ?

Is DDS required for the CDl Library virtual devices. For instance we have the datamovers zoned to the same set of Virtual Tape devices (this is done so when the data mover 5 failes over to one of the other ones, it will have the same ID, otherwise you will get failures). So the question is, is DDS needed in for virtual libraries?

DDS is not required unless you wish to do so. The article refers to SCSI bus resets caused by Windows machines and not (v)dms. If your vdm during failover takes over all properties of dm there is no need for DDS.

Great also just read this Primus Case, I wonder if it applies to CDl720?

Here is the solution: Dynamic drive sharing on CDL can cause tape volume corruption
Each client should be assigned to specific drives without sharing. RSM should be disabled if NetWorker software is to have exclusive use of a Virtual Tape Library.

Here is the problem or goal:
Tape volume corruption caused by SCSI bus resets in the SAN. The SCSI bus reset will cause the tape to rewind and be overwritten (that is, losing data from the original tape). This often occurs using EMC Legato NetWorker.

Dynamic drive sharing on CLARiiON Disk Library (CDL) can cause tape volume corruption

Problem Environment:
Product: CLARiiON DL300

Product: CLARiiON DL310

Product: CLARiiON DL700

Product: CLARiiON DL710

EMC SW: EMC Legato NetWorker

Causes of this problem:
Multiple clients in the CDL GUI are using the same drives in the same Virtual Tape Library.

Thanks for your help. We basically did the configuration by having the same 12 virtual devices presented to each data mover ( for purposes of failover they will have the same device id's ) but from networker each data mover see's only 4 devices each as to not use drive sharing, works like a charm. = )
