Actually you do, VNX when it comes to filer is Celerra with DartOS. Are you using snapsure or nbb for backup or traditional dump? If later, that it means data was in use while taking dump and then you get error as above.
The message "Data server halted" refers to an issue with the Celerra. A data server is a server which reads/writes data from/to a disk.
You would have to enable the logging on the Celerra, run the backup again and disable the logging. You may have to contact Celerra support and provide them the logs. Although I am not denying an issue with Networker in this case, it is most likely to be with the Celerra.
