VADP Backup per dedicated server/proxy Interface

Hi,

in our environment the backup server and VADP proxys are attached with a second NIC to a dedicated backup lan. Anybody there who has the same setup still done? Seems a little bit tricky, because the attribute for alternate backup server interface is set at client reccource (global1of2) bit the traffic will be send by VADP proxy...

Best Regards,

Kai

Hello,

It works if the dedicated server interface address was entered in the VADP Proxy client ressource ( server network interface attribut) instead of the client ressource. Seems that NW server is handling the proxy as an client in the background althrough the VM is the client ressource in the savegroup(menas the backup parameters which will be used). The own dedicated IP addresse should be entered to each Proxy and NetWorker server Alias field. Regards, Kai

Hi Kai,

I did not catch your problem, but if a NetWorker client must access a unique network interface on the server that is used for backup and recover operations, enter the value in the NetWorker client resource’s Server network interface attribute. The value you enter should correspond to the unique hostname of the network interface on the server.

This attribute does not specify the NetWorker server hostname that is used for other NetWorker processes, such as monitoring or authentication operations. All other processes use the hostname of the NetWorker server. The server network interface attribute is used only for the NetWorker Server. The hostname of the LAN interface which is dedicated for backup on the NetWorker server must be entered here.

Please clarify more the issue you have to help you more.

Thanks,

Ahmed Bahaa
