Bought an S4820T for home use....
Couldnt pass it up on eBay. I knew it wouldnt be plain sailing but took the punt all the same....id appreciate some help from anyone that has some experience with these....ive got some initial questions....
1. first and foremost its noisy (which i fully expected) i did try to quieten it down with Noctua fans but it knows the rpm is lower and fails the module. Is there a command that i can use to reduce the speed?
2. Ive got a console connection to it and after typing in "help" to get a command list anything i try seems to end with an error (as ive not got the syntax right?)
3. which leads to the question is there an initial command i can use to wipe and reset it.? (the reseller said it is one of the older ones so it can be wiped from the console) - so he tells me but i cant verify that..
Anyway. Id look forward to some help/a bit of schooling.
Cheers

Hello thanks for choosing Dell.

-no commands to modify the rpm speeds
2. Ive got a console connection to it and after typing in "help" to get a command list anything i try seems to end with an error (as ive not got the syntax right?)
- Are you able to get into CLI mode( usermode or privilege mode mode)

-If you get into privilege mode then you can wipe off the existing configuration from switch by using CLI mode.
Is it possible to get a screenshot of current serial console if we could?

Hi there - been busy with work so not had a chance to mess around with the switch but i did get some time on it yesterday..... as with all things home lab related for me i learnt a great deal in the couple of hours spare that i had....
So, first and foremost i dropped back to the >= prompt and tried to temporarily disable the enable password....after about 10 or so attempts i can get into enable mode but, attempts to clear the password and then reboot, it always asks for a password....
when i got into the config mode (as im new to this i might be wrong in what im saying) i tried to change the ip to one that matches my home network and i cant (something to do with a virtual ip being set) but i suppose if i can work out how to reset it then this wont be an issue...
An additional question is, does this have a web interface or is it all command line driven?
My apologies for the (Very!) late reply.
Re the serial im happy to send it but only on DM. - os is 9.7 i think..?

Hi, regarding your question about the web interface, the S4820T switch does not have a built-in web interface. It is primarily managed via the command line interface (CLI). I'm sharing two important links please review them.
