Dell ConnectX-4 (CX416A) and Dell Powerconnect 8132F
I have a Dell ConnectX-4 dual port 100GBE Dell P/N NHYP5 NIC in a DELL R730xd server. Would it be possible to connect these ports via transceivers and fiberoptic MPO cable to the 40 GBE uplinks on a DELL Powerconnect 8132F switch? I am using the R730xd server as a router that would connect to a switch. Both use QSFP form factor. If not fiberoptic cable, could a DAC cable be used or is there too much of a mismatch between the NIC and the uplinks on the switch? I would think that the signal would be auto-negotiated to 40GBps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
As much as I would like to provide information, but I couldn't find a good suitable cable for this particular setup. I would recommend calling into support to check for available cable suitable for your configuration.

@DELL-Joey C
Thank you. Do you know by chance if it is possible to even connect the 100GB NIC to 40GB uplinks on the switch at all? Will it auto-negotiate? If not, I will have to purchase a different Dell NIC. Thank you again for your time and assistance.

Hi, as I know yes, it is possible to connect a 100GB NIC to 40GB uplinks on the switch. However, it will not auto-negotiate. If you want to connect them, you will need to purchase a different Dell NIC that supports 40GB uplinks. Before any purchasing I would recommend to consult your local support team.
Hope that helps!
