Dell S4128F-ON Network Switch Admin Password login Fail

Dear, My Dell S4128F-ON switch can't log in with admin password. I changed username and password, used that command "username admin password $0$ role sysadmin" . Next log in with new password "admin123" and "$0$ " , that's not work. It showed incorrect password. But "Linux admin" can log in. How can I reset admin password.

I'll try it.But I think that's linuxadmin password reset. I want to change switch log in password. Is it same? Can I restore factory defaults steps. (Pages 823 https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/force10-s4048-on_reference-guide7_en-us.pdf). If I do uninstall OS. Need OS reinstall? (or) erase only startup-config? I scared Linux and OS10 deleted.

How can I do? Thanks a lot.

Although THAT is section of the documentation is the correct solution, it HAS ERRORS.

The instruction in Step 5 and the inserted graph does not match.

It also failed to mention that the inserted text needs to be in front of the backslash.

Once you are in the # prompt, it's just a standard bash shell.  BUT the only correct account to use is 'admin'.  You would have to do "sudo admin" to change its password.  The documentation failed to mention this as well.

Once you've done that, then you can "exit" to get back to the login prompt and enter "admin" as the username to access your switch's configuration.

Hi,

Can you provide a link to the document that you used and which page? There have been a few revisions since the original post so I want to make sure we are looking at the same thing.

BTW, "Restore factory defaults" (same document, page 823) is incorrect also.

"onie-uninstaller" not found.  I chose "ONIE: Uninstall OS" instead.

I know this is off-topic.
