Extracting the files to different directories probably doesn't matter, as once they are extracted, they are installed.  If your wireless network adapter shows up in Device Manager without a problem, and you can see at least one wireless network, it suggests that the drivers were installed properly.  Is the fact that you can only see one network the only problem you are having?  Since these networks that you were previously seeing were probably not yours and since you probably have no control over them, is it not possible that the owner just turned of the router or changed the settings to hide the SSID so that freeloaders would not access their network?  If this isn't the problem, please explain what the main problem is.

Do a search on Google.com for netstumbler.  Download and install the program and use it to see the characteristics of wireless networks within range.

To tell you the truth, you may be right. And, yes that's the problem. I have been seeing more networks but now I only see one., and as I've said, it's only been since I've done the installs. I'm wondering if, for some reason, I may have altered the settings.
