1350 network adaptor/router

Hi,

I am trying to set up an ad-hoc wireless network between my Inspiron 1150 (with the 1350 network adaptor) and a Sony Vaio.

At one time I was actually able to connect to the internet on both computers, but was never able to "see" the computers' shared folders on the network.  Does the 1350 adaptor require an access point, or is there a way to set up the system as a peer-to-peer?

Any info would be most helpful, but please keep it fairly simple.  I'm a novice at this stuff.
