is SSID broadcast enabled on the router?  does it see any other wireless networks?  does it see yours but just not connect?

It doesn't see anyones network...  It is very odd.  I am using TrendMicro PCillin Security.  It started only a couple of days ago.  I was able to connect prior to two days without any problems.  My router is a D-Link 614+ with two other wireless computers connected.  My SSID is active with only my three computers, incl laptop.

I would appreciate any help I could get.

Thanks

It is an internal card.  I was reading on some of the other posts about opening up the computer and making sure the antenna is still attached.  I will try to do this later tonight when I have the tools available.

I was also reading on the Dell Support pages about the Radio Enabling.  I made sure the radio is enabled.  I will do some more diagnostic work tonight on the machine and see what I can find.

Is it possible the card is just bad?  I don't want to actually pay for the tech support of Dell.  My brother had a similar problem, but he just went out and bought a new PCMCIA or similar plug in card for his laptop.

It was out of warranty at the end of May 2006.  Stupid warranties....  I will keep trying.... Thanks for the insight....

all good, instructions for accessing the card are here:

worse case, a replacement won't set you back much (even an internal one).

You might also try upgrading to the latest dell drivers which also correct an important security issue:

Double check your version after installing -- there were some reports of it leaving the old driver.

is this an internal card?  though unlikely it's possible that an antenna became disconnected.  it's also possible you have the radio turned off -- try pressing FN F2 to toggle the radio

cards can die, i'm sure, if that's what you're asking.  is the machine no longer under warranty?

Nemesis, thanks for the info.  I went home last night, installed the new update for the 1370, turned off computer, removed 1370 wireless card from laptop, reinstalled in laptop, turned on computer and the card works just like it used too.

Thanks for your help.

Ben

P.S.  If others out there are having this similar problem, try what I did.
