1390 wireless card

Question

I have just bought an Inspiron1501 with a Dell 1390 wireless card running XP. The card can find a 802.11b access point but won't connect to it. In Device Manager/Properties/Advanced the top line says 802.11h+d with options, Loose 11h, Loose 11h+d, Strict 11h.   Does this mean I can't connect to an 11b network with that card. The build spec was for 1390 802.11b/g.   Thanks

Is there any encryption on the router? If there is disable all encryption and try again. Also, make sure the MAC filtering is not turned on. If you can see a signal but not connect many times it's the encryption, sometimes however, it could be a firewall setting.

This card is not a Draft-N card.
