Try changing the channel that your router uses to one of the extreme channels (1 or 11 in the U.S.).  This will minimize interference from other 2.4 Ghz devices.

May I ask how would I go about doing that?

Without knowing which make and model router you have (in which case I would have to look up the users manual on the internet), I can only suggest that you log into your router's configuration page from a computer that is connected to the router by a wired ethernet connection, find the channel that your router is using and change the channel.

It's a D-Link DL-614+. I have accessed that page before (with help from a friend) but I seemed to have lost that page in my favorites.

I logged into it as "user" and it says that only admin can make any changes. How do I log it as an admin?

Yep, that's the IP, lol. I remember the password. And it was a DI, not a DL, lol.

Okay, so I found the channel selector. I just change it to channel 1 or 11 and then what? That's it? What do I do if it doesn't work?

Just change the channel to 1 or 11 and save the changes.  The router shoult restart, then you can see if it fixed the problem.

Oh, and it says only an "admin" can change settings.

Edit: Sorry about the double post.

I looked at the site on how to change the admin password, and unfortunately I can not do it because I'm not an admin. Is there any way to reset the router altogether to manually reset the password? Updating the firmware maybe?

Go to the following site and download and read the Product Manual:

I guess I have to read the manual for you.  Did you even bother.  Did you look on page 10 where it tells you that the default admin password it blank (no password). Did you try that? Did you read page 54 where it clearly tells you how to reset the router to its factory settings?

Sorry for being noobish, Steve. :smileysad:

But yes, thank you for helping me restore the settings. It appears that the people who set up the cable and the wireless put on a admin password, I guess, to prevent others from accessing the router. I set the channel to 11 and now it works quite well. I can not thank you enough!

And sorry again for being noobish. I should have read. :smileysad:
