What model & version from Linksys do you have?
What firmware "version number" did you upgrade your router to?

What OS are you using (i.e. - WinXP SP2)?
Did you try removing the "existing profiles" in your Client Manager (to see if it would detect your router, again) or have any error messages (before trying to change the "Wireless 1470" driver)?

It might help to post the links (URL) to both drivers...
To stop side to side scrolling of a long URL, copy & paste this:
"insert URL here">"click here"

Post your "Device ID", also... ("click here" and refer to "Message #2" for the instructions)

Hi,

Just a quick point I've found. It still connects fine to other wireless connections, just not to the linksys for some reason.

Model of router - WRT54G v1.1
Latest version of Firmware, straight from Linksys - 4.21.1

OS - Windows XP Home, I believe it's SP/2, it's my brothers laptop and we checked to make sure it had all the latest updates from windows
Other Problems - We didn't encounter any other problems prior to this, except one that was game related. While playing WoW my brother would get occasional disconnects on this router and wouldn't anywhere else.

The driver version currently being used on the laptop - Hmm...well that's strange. We looked up this same driver a few days ago and I swear it had the same version number we currently use, it still lists as not being changed since 2006. I'll have to try that when my brother gets home. I believe he was using 3.60 and this onelists as 4.40.

When my brother gets back I'll try the new new driver I found and then check for the device Id and client manager if that doesnt work.

Thanks

If the "Wireless 1470" connects without any problems to other wireless routers... then it probably might have something to do with the changes made with the firmware update.

You might want to write down the configuration settings of the WRT54G and reset the router ("click here")... then "manually configure" the settings, again. This usually helps after a firmware upgrade, but sometimes a "Hard-Reset" is needed ("click here")...

The WRT54G Firmware has a release date of 1/30/2007 and quite possibly was released to accommodate any issues with the Vista OS ("click here"). (Edit: You might want to install a previous firmware version that works well for all computers, if nothing else works.)

Since one of the issues the firmware update fixed was with UPnP... you might want to play around with enabling/disabling it in the router's management interface ("click here") or on the Wireless 1470 notebook (Click "Start/Run" and type services.msc / Right-click on "Universal Plug and Play Device Host", click "Stop" and select "Disabled", "Apply"...)

If the "Wireless 1470" is not connecting at all... after attempting a connection, you might want to check what "IP Address" it's trying to connect to ("click here"). If the IP Address starts with "169.xxx.xx.x", you can also configure a "Static IP Address" with your router's IP address as the Gateway... then try going back to "Auto" after making a connection.

If you feel you can handle a "3rd party firmware install", you might want to consider installing the DD-WRT Firmware (for more info/links "click here" and scroll down).

Well you're just a fountain of network information! I wouldn't have thought of half of that if I tried. Thanks for answering even though I cant check this stuff out as quick as I'd like to, I'll show this to my brother and try and see if it has any results.
