1530 wireless startup

Question

ust got my 1530 notebook with the wireless n card..got it all setup ..it takes 1-2 minutes for the red x on the wireless icon to change to a working blue internet.i don`t know why it takes so long for it to connect where other pc`s and notebooks i have are instant..i looked at settings anf stuff but i can`t find anything..i tried updating the driver and windows said the best drive was picked already..any ideas

i have the intel wireless-gen-n mini card which i think is model 495..running home vista premium..i uninstalled trend micro internet security...i also have bluetooth as well..the internet works it just takes to long to connect like other laptops and pcs in our family

Which version of Windows are you running?  Which wireless network adapter do you have?   Does the same thing happen if you boot to Safe Mode with Network Support?  (this will tell us if it is something that is loading in Normal Mode that is interfering with the network startup).   Steve

To get into Safe Mode, restart the computer and start tapping the F8 key before Windows loads.  This will bring up a menu - choose Safe Mode with Network Support.   Which icon is going yellow then blue?   Steve

i tried pushing the f8 button and i get no safe mode option..the wireless icon in the right hsnd corner

don't think so..i have dell quick set,dell support,webcam,dell touchpad..the quickset is for hotzones at stuff

It is tricky getting into Safe Mode.  You either have to hit the F8 key at just the right moment before Windows starts to load, or start tapping the F8 key, once a second, before Windows starts to load.   Steve

haven't tried that yet..how do i get into safe mode?i did notice that it goes to a yellow icon first then to blue
