1600n loses settings when powered off

My 1600n loses all settings when powered off - date, time out on power settings - is anyone else experiencing this and is there a work around?  Thanks.

See the user guide here and save a copy to your pc if you haven't already.

This should do it.

I remember getting a warning when I changed its IP address that the settings would be cleared upon reset.  An annoyance (especially cause you aren't going to put a laser behind a UPS) but not a deal killer I think

I have the same problem with this printer. Couldn't find anything in the manual about it. Is this a "feature"?

My IP is also retained, but date, fax answer on number of rings, and scanner powersave settings are all lost.  Also preserved at the copy count - but losing the date seems strange and requires resetting every time to the power is restored.

Any reply from Dell? Surely you're not supposed to have to re-set the date every time you turn it on.

(can the moderator move this thread back to the Dell Laser Printer forum, where it began?)

Machine was three days out of warranty - no help from DELL.  There is a green 3 volt VARTA battery on the printer motherboard - right side of machine when facing it - replaced it (it is soldered onto the motherboard) with a socket and new 3 volt battery - date and settings now retained.  Watch out if your printer is nearly one year old ...
