5150 not getting a network address
I reinstalled windows a few weeks ago, as I kept getting a blue screen on startup. My computer now no longer connects to the wireless internet in my house. Well, it connects, but it isn't assigned a network address. The wireless connects, but I have a bogus ip and a limited or no connectivity warning.
I downloaded the chipset drivers, fiddled with every setting imaginable, ran the fix from sp2, and tried a static ip (which connected with the ip I gave it, but still could not access the internet.)
The internet works fine when I plug directly into the router.
I have a inspiron 5150, dell wirless internal 1350 mini pci wireless card, windows xp w/ sp2.

The SSID is not hidden if you can see it across the wireless network. If WEP is enabled and you have not entered the correct hex key, you will get the exact symptoms that are shown in your ipconfig output i.e. an autoconfiguration IP addresss of 169.254.xxx.xxx. You need to get out your router manual to determine how to see what the wep key is. Normally you can access the router's configuration utility by opening a web browser and typing the router's ip address into the address bar. In your case the router's ip address is 192.168.0.1. Alternatively you can reset the router to its default settings (no WEP or WPA encryption) by pressing and holding the reset button on the router.
