5530 WWAN - how to use it without connection manager

Dear all,

Im solving this issue, I would like to use Dell Wireless 5530 WWAN adapter in our Dell Latitude E6400 / E4300 notebooks without the connection aplication provided by Dell (Connection manager). I already get the drivers for this WWAN adapter and installed them, so I can use this adapter as classic windows modem (I can see it in control panel - phone and modem options, I can also query, so it is funftional). What Im not able is to dial a connection. If I create GPRS mobile connection after a short while (dialing, connecting, veryfying user name and password) is the call disconnecti with error Error 734: The PPP Link Control Protocol Was Terminated. I think that I need to send apropriate AT command to modem to get it working, but I can not find out which one. Any suggestions?

Regards

Has anybody found a solution to this problem? I have the exact issue and ControlPoint gave me even more problems.

Alternative to the ControlPoint is the Wireless Manager (i read on a post somewhere it was intended for use wit hteh DELL Mini 910??)  but works fine on my E6400 (after several hours of erros from control point!)

if you don't want to use a conenction mananger and just use Dial-Up conenction, you will need to set the APN via a AT init Command.

try this initialisation command - AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP",   change the APn to the APN you use for the WWAN connection.

in Australia you get the card to dial *99#,

There isnt any simple way to use without connection manager since its useless without activation and paying for service.

There is an Expensive way to use non internal cards.

no worries!..

you said it is not working in this scenario... what do you mean.

as long as the drivers for the device are installed you shoul be able to interface/access the device like any other modem.  (obviously you will need a plan setup with a mobile provider first)   depending on which provider you can probably set up the sim card "manually" (get all the servie codes added) in sotre so you then don't need to use the conenction manager at all...

I gave on the control point component completely (as my laptop is connected to a domain and hte software refuses to run) and have been using the ericsson wireless manager (for the mini 9) and it's been working flawlessly...
