6000d Network Issues
Got my new Inspiron 6000d. I installed Windows XP pro which wiped everything. Installed all the proper drivers I read to.
Set my network up via direct ethernet connection. I have a DI-624 wireless router attached to my cable modem. I was first able to set up the network ok. Could talk to my desktop at first. Internet connection was up but brutally slow and then non-existant. It won't talk at all now to either desktop or internet. I bypassed the DLink and plugged straight into the modem. Still won't connect.
Strange thing is that when I plug the laptop into the router or enable the wireless card, the desktop internet connection slows to a halt completely. Then it won't bring up any webpages. When I disconnect the laptop, desktop works fine again. And naturally, the whole time the laptop won't make a connection.
I'm not that experienced with network troubleshooting, so i'm not sure whether I did something stupid and messed up some settings.
Any help would be wonderful.

It would help to have more information on your setup but here is a stab in the dark. You said you originally set up the laptop using the hardwired network connection and then went to the wireless internet connection, is that right? If so, do you have the hard wired ethernet cable still connected to the computer? I have problems when both 802.11G and wired ethernet are connected at the same time.
Can you ping your router/localhost?
Have you tried release/renewing your ip address and information?
Does your wireless router authenticate MAC addresses and if so do you have yours entered properly?
