600m Ethernet Adapter Disappears

My ethernet adapter has disappeared.  It does not appear in Device Manager and my wired router does not recognize that anything is connected to it (an LED would normally be lit).  Any help would be greatly appreciated since my wireless connection to my TrueMobile wireless G router drops occasionally.

I am running Windows XP SP 2.

Edit: this is an integrated NIC that is on my motherboard.  My wireless network card works normally.

Well I figured out how to fix my problem.

1. Reboot your computer.
2. Press when the Dell logo comes up to get to the Boot Setup.
3. Click ALT and P together to change pages. Do this until you see something about your LAN pop up. If it is Disabled, enable it.
4. Escape and save.

This solved my problem.

Well, my problem is happening intermittently.  Sometimes the card is there and sometimes it is not.  I can't really go into the Bios settings every time I start up my laptop.

Anybody else have the problem of the Network Adapter completely disappearing?  Anybody have another solution?

I have the same problem. They updated the PXE code in the BIOS at A16. I suffer from lockups when the NIC is enabled in the BIOS (OS independant). Sometimes durring a reboot, setup will disable the NIC after doing the longer slow boot check (so mine fails (you can test it yourself by enforcing a long boot in the BIOS and see if yours is being disabled by the BIOS)).

Re-enabling it will only make the problem aggro again. Under Debian or FreeBSD they both complpain about the PXE codes and report incorect frame sizes every tenth frame. Under Windows, Debian and FreeBSD I experience Lockup's. Though I suppose I could have a hardware problem, disabling the NIC makes the problem go away.

All the old BIOS revisions are gone from the website/ftp-site (they used to be archived). I would really really like a copy of the previous two (before A16). Cause I also have a unique battery Issue that may have started at A16 but I am getting the usual support tactics from dell.
$145 needless dollars spent.

Also on the LIST, remove or support ACPI S4BIOS or don't report it in the DSDT. I can't tell you how mad I am about this. Over 72 emails and no resolve.

So, If you are listening Dell Gods.... Make it right. I got case numbers .... I am three for three with what I feel are valid complaints. But I expect nothing...
