600m network driver

I just reformatted my 600m. Originally it had Windows XP Home, but I moved to Windows XP Professional. I followed all the steps in some of the previous posts: Install WinXP, then the ChipSet drivers, then the Notebook System Software. None of my unrecognized devices went recognized. I tried installing the Ethernet Controller Drivers (in this case, the Broadcom 570x drivers) and the system still does not recognize the controller. I also tried updating the drivers and pointing it directly to the WinXP directory (under the Dell\drivers\Rxxxxx directory) and it would hang on copying b57xp32.sys. I have read thru most of the posts and no one has provided anything more after this part.

I also ran the Dell Diagnostics (run from the DOS environment) and they report my NIC to be in working condition. Any ideas on where to go from here?

Thanks for your time.

Right now they are:

Ethernet Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
PCI Modem

I just updated the Video Drivers and the Wireless Adapater Driver with no problem (did this to have a minimal working system that I could use to get some Windows Updates). They were previously "Problem Devices", but they too were not recognized until I specifically updated them.

Provide a list of all devices listed in Device Manager as "Problem Devices".  We can then go from there.

Are you sure you have the Broadcom 570X Gigabit Integrated Congtroller and not the Broadcom 440x Integrated Controller?  The 440X drivers are at:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/type.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_600M&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=2966

The audio controller drivers are at:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&releaseid=R90698&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_600M&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=2551&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=6&formatcnt=1&fileid=118248

The modem drivers are under Communications Drivers at:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_600M&os=WW1&osl=EN

Note that to install any of these drivers, you download them, then run them from the location to which you downloaded them.   They will unzip to the Dell Drivers folder and then automatically install.   Do not try to install these drivers through Device Manager.

You need to know which modem you have installed.
