700m linksys router

just go my new 700 m pc.  I can connect wirelessly at school but when I come home. I can not receive the wireless signal from my linksys b router.... any ideas. I already added the most recent firmware and rebooted the modeum and router several times......

It has the intel 2200 card which works fine at my school but at my home it can not even find a signal.  Sometimes, it will find the linksys signal but it will not connect to it and then when I try it again, it does not even locate the signal.

any ideas. I spent hours with linksys and they offered nothing that worked.  Also, I have a loud clicking noise every time I send an email.  any one else?  what do I need to do to fix it?

feel free to email me. kc95@drexel.edu

connect your 700m to your linksys via LAN cable.  access your linksys router by typing 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your internet explorer.  if you have created a userid and password type that in when the logon window appears.  if not, then type in the default (look at your linksys installation).  take a look at your linksys wireless configurations. and make sure you have all the settings correct (i.e. is it set to b or g or both, is security or no security, is shared key, no key, wireless enabled, etc).  also go to network connections on your laptop and right click the wireless connection and click properties.  go into configure wireless device (you can also do this from device manager: start, right click my computer, properties, hardware, device manager, network devices, and double clicking the wireless device).  go to advance tab and make sure that it is set to default on wireless mode and highlight the option of b or g.  if you are using securiyt settings for your home router, then you need to set up connections with the correct CSID, password, etc.

THanks.  I have check the router settings and I think everything is ok.  the probelm is I am not sure what the settings should be.  I have on laptop on XP that needs to access the linksys router. I do not think I have any security settings in place.  Also, not sure about the WEP setting.

Never the less, I can pick up my wireless signal "linksys" since it is still set on default but the error message is below I receive when I try to connect.  I am using the intel 2200 internal wirless card.  any ideas?

yeah, those silly competing software programs.  what i did was go to add/remove software.  you can do two things.  i chose to completely uninstall the intel software, but you can modify it by going into add/remove programs and clicking on the intel wireless then choose modify  click on the box and select do not install for all the boxes except the one that says drivers.  it will remove the program and keep the driver.  or you can completely uninstall it.  then you go into device manager and click on network devices, double click wirless, update drivers, manually choose, select the location, browse for the intel folder on your c drive and it should still have the driver there.  then click continue or apply and it will search for the driver in that folder and update it.  then you can let xp handle your connections.
