8500 Wired Connection randomly disconnects...

I randomly get disconnected from my wired connection on different connections (home, work, etc.).

It will say that the connection is unplugged, when it obviously isn't. Since this is happening with different routers, cables, etc, I'm certain that it is because of my laptop. Could my network card be somehow damaged?

I only had the one year plan, so I'm guessing I'm doomed, correct?

It appears to be securely connected... it doesn't wobble. Short of glueing it, what would you suggest? ;)

Can you get it to stay connected if you hold it in?  If so, then it really does suggest that there is a problem with the connector.  You can call Dell tech support and see what they charge to send it in for a fix, or alternatively, you could buy a PC card ethernet adapter and use that instead.

It could be a bad RJ45 connector on your laptop.  See if you can find a way to more securly hold the RJ45 plug into its socket.

Have you tried a different cable?
