Accessing Quickbooks Pro Files on Network Problem

I am using a Simpleshare drive on the network as a file server. When I access one of the Quickbooks Pro files on the netword Windows Explorer crashes with a C++ runtime error. This happens on any QBP file on the network. it only happens on the DELL. Inspiron 6000, I have four other computers on the network, they can access these files over the network without problem.

I can access any other type of file on the Simpleshare drive without problem.

Any ideas

Can you provide any details on the error code?  How about looking in the event log and seeing if there are any abnormal events being recorded.

What happens if you "copy" the file to your PC and run it locally?  Same issue or not?

If I transfer the file to the local drive it loads ok

The error message is,

Runtime error, Program C:\Windows Explorer.exe

This Application has requested thr runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

Next question....Are you accessing the file over a wired ethernet or wireless on the inspiron?

By copying across the network and running locally we've cleared up all but the network.

Are you mappping a drive or using a fully qualified path e.g \\simpleshare\share\qbpfile.qbp or something like M:\qbpfile.qbp?

This may help us see if this is a registry problem for a network share or perhaps a MTU or error problem on the network.

Also, next time you try to access the file, open a cmd window and type netstat -e before and after.  I want to see if there are any "obvious" errors on the "network."

1 I get the same error with wirless or ethernet.

2 I am mapping a tetwork drive with a drive letter.

The results of the netstat -e is

Bytes Rec 2673283 Sent 992467

Unicast Packets Rec 6265 Sent 5835

Non-unicat packets Rec 747 Sent 242

Discards 0

Errors 0

Unknown Protocols 5

Hmmm,
Well that leaves firewalls and User Rights.
Is the user name you are using on this machine the same as one that works?
If not, try using the same user name (both on the machine and the drive mapping)
Is the machine running any AV or Firewall software?   Try disabling it and see if you get the same error.
