Actiontec MI424WR and Dell Wireless 1390 connection problem

This is my second plead for HELP!. I have a new Inspiron 1505 and I have tried millions of time to establish a wireless connect to my PC Computer (Window XP/SP2), and I have been unsuccessful. I have tried many changes and the latest was to create a match in the MAC ADDRESS. Again, I don't have any luck. I believe someone in this forum should have an anwser. The network connection in my laptop shows limited range but with an excellent signal strength. I am not a Computer Wiz, I need your support. Thanks!:smileysad:

First things first, when trying to troubleshoot wireless connection take out all the encryption. This will prevent connection so let's get it connected first without any encryption and once we've got it connected then we can add back in the encryption. The easiest way to make sure there is no encryption is to reset the router. You'll have to look in the manual of your router to find how to reset the router.

If after you reset the router check and see if you are getting a signal or if you are connected. If you are connected then it was the encryption causing the problem. To encrypt your router do the encryption one at a time.

If after resetting your router and you do not connect then go to Start > Run and type cmd in the box a black box will appear. Once in the black box type ipconfig /all and past the results here, so we can take a look at them.

Also, you did not mention what OS you are running.
