Add Network Place Wizard hangs.

My computer systems are listed below. The LAN is generally satisfactory and I can transfer information between computers and I can use printer-sharing. Unfortunately the Network Place Wizard on the laptop (XP) is not functioning correctly and fails to complete "Downloading Information from the Internet". I have run the same procedure on the Dimension 4500 (XP) without any problems. On the Dimension 4100 (ME) I have to use My Network Places/ Add Network Place to reach the Wizard and the rest of the procedure is fairly straightforward.

I can still access the designated shared files on all computers but cannot add any connections to the laptop. Please can any one help?

To helemecj01: Thank you for your reply, unfortunately, it does not help. All of the services are set as you suggested. I do not use Norton or McAfee antivirus/spyware programs. My Zone Alarm firewall settings permit file sharing between computers on the LAN which works satisfactorily with those programs which are listed on the Local Network when I open My Network Places. My problem is this - I cannot define any new network places on the laptop using the routine "Add Network Place" although the routine works on the other two computers in the LAN.

I still cannot use the Add Network Place Wizard on my laptop, however, I have devised a workaround. On the computer to which I wish to connect with the laptop, I transfer the required folder to a folder which can be accessed on the laptop, because the connection had been enabled when the Wizard worked. I can now connect the laptop to the new folder via the connected one.
