AOL, Yes! Internet Explorer, No!

Does anyone know why, on my new laptop, that I CAN connect to the internet using my wireless connection through AOL, but the window remains blank when I try and get on using IE? I need to use IE because my McAfee won't automatically update any other way. Help!

Delete Mcafee, and you will be able to go to internet, all you have to do is delete MacAfee. you will see.

I wouild not delete McAfee, which is your security software, unless you install some other security software.

However, McAfee firewall may be blocking it. You should be able to get I.E. enabled in McAfee.

Disclaimer - since you are using AOL, anything is possible and it may be an AOL issue and in that case you need to contact AOL to help get it configured.

Well, I went inside of McAfee and made sure that the IE is enabled....so I'm not sure that deleting it would help. But I will certainly do that if it will fix the problem. I do have Norton on disk that I can load for protection.

Well, I uninstalled McAfee, but that didn't help. Does it matter that I am connected wirelessly through a router?

wireless doesn't matter (compared to say wired) though as far as I can tell you made two basic mistakes:

1) installing aol

2) installing mcafee

Well, I didn't have much choice. They both came preinstalled. I just hardwired the laptop to the router and IE works fine.....I'm going to assume it's the wireless. I am going to contact Linksys..............
