auto archive function any ideas

i have IE 6 on my system and the auto archive feature came on the other day and not realising what the consequences were I clicked ok and all of  my email disappeared. I found an identity that had been created on my system which seems by it's size to contain all of my email. But trying to open it or import it into my outlook express main direectory using the import comands does not work. Does any one know how to make this happen??

Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks again Dean

Is that file a *.PST
?
*.OST
?
Does it have the name "Archive"
?
You may have to adjust file settings so that it does not HIDE files and extensions (thre are three separate checkboxes).

I was responding to your writing "I found an identity that had been created on my system which seems by it's size to contain all of my email."
My request for information is for you to write:

name of the file (root):
extension of the file name (ext):
size of file:
date created:
time created:
This is the context of my questions.
"*" means "any group of characters, which I do not know of course"
and so forth.
