Auto Power On when receiving fax?

I remember that I read about it somewhere, in some kind of help or support on my computer, but now that I need it, can't find it!

Is there any way I can get my Dimension 8300 with a Dell 940 printer to receive fax even when I'm not at home?

Some kind of wake up mode???

In looking over the on-line version of your User Guide it doesn't appear the 8300 model supports a Wake up On Lan feature.  Even if it did the WOL feature generally supports network cards and not modems.

I had a machine with Fax/ Modem several years back that did what you ask. I left the machine in standby mode all day, and then when the phone rang, it's wake up receive the fax, then go back to sleep after preset # of minutes. But it was not a wake on LAN, it was a wake up on ring... The next machine I had did not support that.

The setting was somewhere in modem properties, but I seem to recall something in the BIOS's Power Options had to be set as well. I think the key is that the modem (and it's driver) must support it.
