Automated PC Tuneup failure

I installed the Dell automated PC Tuneup program for a trial on my Inspiron 8200 notebook & ran it. I noticed it 'failed' on the Internet Connection Speed optimization sequence. Would appreciate any ideas as to why this might occur & how it might be resolved such that it doesn't fail again. - Thanks, S.

not sure why it would fail, but how are your download/upload speeds compared to your isp provisioned speeds? (if you have broadband what download/upload package do you pay for, and do you achieve those actual speeds?)

uncertain why the dell software does not work, but you don't need it to optimize your connection speed.  Generally, if your laptop has been running fine and is now slower, then look to spyware/adware or something using up your bandwidth or running in the background.  Do you know your actual download/upload speeds?  Your rwin might need tweaking which can be done easily with drtcp.  That is why I asked what speeds you pay for and what you are actually getting.
Do you have enough free hard drive space?  Did you add any new software?  Is all your antivirus and antispyware software up-to-date?  Have you cleared out temp internet files etc etc etc...

Pay for basic but speeds have been somewhat slower of late on the laptop but not on my desktop which is on the same 4 port wireless router - the laptop doesn't have the same horsepower but I'm more interested in getting to the 'why' of this failure to be able to optimize it & why it occurs on the laptop & not the desktop. They are both 'wired' into the router & networked to each other. - Thanks, S.

I run top-of-the line and more spyware & virus & internet security programs - up to date & everything is clean - have done all the rest you brought up re disk clean up etc. Perhaps I'll have to talk to one of Dell's technicians in this program area to see what ideas they might have. - Thanks, S.
