Which model system do you have?  Which version of Windows are you running?  Are you trying to connect through ethernet or wireless?  Is there more to the error message than what you have stated?  If so, what is the full and exact text of the error message you are getting?

I'm having the same problem with a laptop at my firm.   I have a Dell D600 with a PR01X port replicator.  I think the problem may be limited to the port replicator so I've replaced it.  Are you using the same type of equipment?

And I'm using XP Service Pack 2 and all the latest drivers.  This laptop was a fresh rebuild from scratch because of a virus and has all the latest drivers on it including bios A16.

I was bored at lunch so I did some research... maybe you've already seen/tried these, but they are suggesting its and issue with the wireless card driver.

This first article lists a couple of other references and this sounds like it may be a "known issue"....

Thanks for the response.   I downloaded the driver from the HP web site,  installed it and it worked fine.  Been running for over a month without a single BSOD.

This was on a Dell D600 and not a dimension.
