I forgot to mention that my system is winxp sp2 home edition, Pentium M 725 processor, 512 mb ram.

This was an easy (just logic) find: http://www.bluetooth.com/
As for 1394 that is, as you've been told, a "firewire" connection. Firewire is an Apple computer term, as they pioneered the interface. It is a serial data connection, much like USB, but faster than the earlier USB 1.1. Look here for more on 1394.
