Bluetooth Device Manager and connectivity, Latitude D530
I recently had to change between two Latitude D530 laptops for work. With the new one I cannot connect my Nokia bluetooth headset and I wonder if its because the Bluetooth software installed on the machines is different.
OLD Latitude
Latitude D530
Running XP SP3
Bluetooth Manager - Bluetooth Stack for Windows (Toshiba) v4.31.02.6(D)
BlueTooth spec : v2.0, 1.2, 1.1
(for this machine and setup my bluetooth headset connects, pairs and can be used perfectly, even on a test today)
NEW Laptop
Latitude D530
Running XP SP3
Bluetooth Manager - Not exactly sure, its definately not looking like the device manager above, has two Hardware elements:
Dell Wireless 360 Bluetooth Module
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator (but this is located on the Dell module above so I guess the 360 module is the important part).
Bluetooth headset = Nokia BH-900
So what can I do?
initially I struggled locating the Nokia device with the 360 module software, but found on a forum that possibly the PC sync software provided by Nokia interferes, disabled this and now I can find the Nokia headset.
I can connect the headset to the device and add the relevant passcode, but the headset does not work, I don't think its fully Connected, just paired.
OK so on the old laptop I would Pair the device then run a connection process, double clicking on the headset's icon in the device manager.
With the new software double clicking does nothing.
(as an additional confirmation that the bluetooth device seems to be ok - my mobile phone, a Nokia N95, syncs perfectly fine across Bluetooth, connects and is recognised satisfactorily).
Any ideas?
I wondered whether the Bluetooth Stack software was available to replace the 360 module software but cannot find it anywhere, and anyway don't want to make things worse!
Just sees like the Bluetooth 360 Module software isn't fully functioning, i cannot force the conection from it.
Any help or advice gratefully received!
Cheers
Tim
