Go to Control Panel>System>Hardware
Then click on device manager.

Tell me if you have the Bluetooth device listed in there.
If not, get in to BIOS, make sure Bluetooth is enabled in there.

Come back to device manager. If you still dont find it in there, reinstall windows.
If not that h/w fault mate.

In the Device Manager I have a Bluetooth Devices, I open that and have a Bluetooth Bus Enumerator listed. It says that device is working properly.

I also went into the bios and it's in there and enabled, I even turned it off, loaded, then went back and turned it back on. The device which is working properly according to this silly computer, still cannot be found.

Uninstall the device from device manager and Scan for h/w changes mate. Then try and re-install the bluetooth s/w, cant be anything else. That has to work for a fact.

The Bluetooth Bus Enumerator?

It won't let me uninstall that. Not sure why, it gives me the option to uninstall most everything else, but nothing Bluetooth can be.

Not sure if there's a way to force uninstall this thing or not.

Doh! Well, that stinks, I was playing around with it last night and found a way to install more BBEs but they can't load the drivers (Probably because of the first one.)

I think I'll take it in somewhere for one last shot at fixing it before I resort to reformatting. I hate reformatting.

Thanks for your help. :)

I own a latitude d520. I think it has bluetooth but I can't activate it. I never used Bluetooth with my laptop before. Is this the way to check if it has Bluetooth? What should I look for in the Device Manager to know if I have Bluetooth?

Coz if the device is listed in device manager and seems fine, it means that windows recognises the device and can communicate with it.

If for some reason you cant find the device listed in the device manager it means 2 things.
1. it does not exist
2. its disabled in the bios.

every device needs to be there, if the drivers are installed than it will show up properly, if not than it may be listed in Other devices or with a yellow question mark or an exclaimation.
