Bluetooth dropout

Greetings from down under!

 

I have a brand new Latitude D610 and am having trouble getting bluetooth to work.  I have an imate SP5 smartphone (ie. phone/pda) and am trying to connect the two to enable wireless sync'ing of my calendar/address book.

 

I've downloaded and installed the latest 350 drivers and the setup goes through OK.  When I try and connect to the phone, the phone says 'connected' but the Latitude says 'connection failed'.  It doesn't matter whether I initiate the connection with either the phone or the notebook - the result is the same.  What confuses me is that when the phone says it's "connected" the BT icon turns green for a short period then turns white as if it connects, then drops out ???

 

I've turned off all security (ie. put it on the lowest setting)

 

Running Windows 2000, not XP.
