Having the same problem on a D800!

I'm using BT just at home and so I'm always having trouble after installing some software at work.

After reseting with Windows XP to a former systempoint, BT is working again.

Which BT module is in your D600 integrated?

Im having the same problem with one of our D600s. The bluetooth doesn't even show up in the bios or in ctrl panel. Weird as it was all working a week ago.

Hi,

what to do?

DELL told me to setup the D800 completely new. That makes no sense to me.

I was gonna call dell support today and get some advice, but im backed up here today so im not gonna make it today. Let me know how that fresh install goes if you decide to go through with it. I belive my problem is not a software problem since my bluetooth device doesn't show in bios. Good luck anyway.

Which Bluetooth module is integrated in your D600?

Have you found some Bluetooth Setup Software on the delivered Dell CD's?

I've contaced dell in norway. They've had 5 similar events, and the problem is escalated. They will send a technician to us tomorrow to fix this.

Had a technician here a couple of days ago. He wasnt familiar with the new bluetooth chip, so he changed the whole motherboard, before he found out that the chip could have easily been replaced without chaning the mobo. So I didn't find out if it was the chip or the mobo that was faulty. The technician pointed out that the bluetooth chip was mounted in such a way that it easily could fall out of place. He said that this would prob change in future versions of the d600.

I have similar problems with my built-in Latitude D600 bluetooth module. Every time I turn on the PC, the blue tooth would work for about 5 minutes. It would then prompt an unknown USB device error and shuts down the bluetooth. I hope to be able to call Dell tomorrow but I would like to hear any inputs you may have on this problem.

thx!

Hi,

that's what I want to do today, I've got no good answer from DELL through phone (install new, take new BIOS)

I don't have the time during work to do this.

I seem to be having a similar problem with mine.  The card seemed to work fine for the first few months after I received the computer.  I then got a hp DeskJet 450 with the Anycom Bluetooth card.  The printer would work fine for a while but in the middle of a job it just stopped and flashed lights.  I got in contact with hp, and even one of their senior guys in charge of the development of the printer couldn't give me any information on the error lights.  I finally gave up on the printer but now the connection between the card and the computer seems very hit-or-miss.  I have discovered that pressing down firmly on the lower left corner of the palm rest just below the hard drive the Bluetooth indicator light will come on but upon releasing pressure the light goes off and Windows gives me a nasty message.  I am on hold with tech support now and hopefully will have this resolved soon.  Good luck to the rest of you.

I am having the same trouble with Bluetooth.  Sometimes it works great, sometimes it's a pain in the neck.  Pete, after reading your post I tried pressing on the left palm rest of my D600.  Tah Dah, Bluetooth began working fine!  I called Dell and they are sending someone out tomorrow to change out the BT card or Motherboard or both.

I don't know whether any of you guys use the Gold Tech Support - but I'll never buy another PC without it.  It's well worth the $69!  I was on hold for 2 minutes - TOPS!  On top of that, the tech didn't treat me like an idiot!!  They actually "adjust" to your computer intelligence level.  You know the type "are you sure you did this...do you know how to re-boot...etc, etc."

I'll let you know how things turn out tomorrow.  Thanks again Pete!

Regards - John

I do wish I had the option of the gold support.  After posting my message, I was on on hold for well over 30 minutes.  I finally gave up and plan calling again later this week.  Any idea if the gold support is available as an upgrade?

Hi!

How can you be sure that the problem does not appear in the future again? The new motherboard would have had the same problem, wouldn´t it? Or has this fault been removed on the new boards yet?
I have the same problem and the technician wants to change the board also. How can he fix the problem? How did he "fix" the chip? Is it much work to change the board or open the laptop to fix the chip? My D600 is just new and I don´t wont any "rabbles" or things like that...

Thanks for your help!

Best regards
Stefan
