Bluetooth Problem Windows 8.1
I currently am using a Dell l521x and I am having trouble using/adding Bluetooth devices. This problem has occured ever since I upgraded to windows 8.1. After reading on this forum it seems to be a common issue for many people. I have tried reinstaling 8.1 drivers from the dell website but I still am having no luck.
Is there anything I can do...
Or am I just going to have to wait this one out?
Thanks

Walkerbout,
Someone posted this. I cannot confirm if it works or not...
Forget the operating system mentioned.
Try reading THIS ARTICLE and see if Bluetooth works.

Cant figure out my adapter number for the bluetooth. Dells website layout has changed from over the years. Is'nt this just like reinstalling the driver?

try updating the bluetooth driver through intel site. that should work because the dell drivers not all of them are good with 8.1

I also had this problem, and couldn't even get to the bluetooth setup after I upgraded to windows 8.1. After a couple of weeks of struggling with this, I finally went into msconfig.exe, checked the box to not show windows processes and disabled all others. I also went int the startup tab and unchecked all programs that were included in the startup. Then I rebooted, and the bluetooth settings were available. This told me that something in either the startup programs or the processes was conflicting with the bluetooth. From there it was a process of elimination. I re-enabled the processes and left off the startup programs. When I did this, the Bluetooth failed again. So I disabled the processes that weren't Microsoft and enabled the startup programs that I wanted to run. Bluetooth worked!! So it had to be one of the processes that was causing the problem. From here it was the process of enabling 1 or 2 processes at a time to find the culprit causing the problem. For me, it was two Motorola processes. I have no idea what they were for, but everything works fine without them - including Bluetooth. By the way, Dell level 3 tech support couldn't find the problem or even suggest what to do.

Having the same problem - started today (04/09/14) about a week after I upgraded to Windows 8.1.
In my case, it's my XPS 8700 and the Microsoft Comfort Sculpt wireless mouse. Every minute or so the mouse disconnects - even while I'm using it.
Unable to recreate solution above.
There is no Power Management tab for the mouse in Device Manager. But using the Power Management tab for the Dell Wireless Network Adapter, I was able to change its setting, clearing the check box to disallow powering off to save power. This did NOT help.
Only workaround so far is to turn off the mouse and turn it back on again every 90 seconds or so, which obviously isn't a solution.
Unless a solution appears, I'm going to replace the wireless mouse with a corded mouse. Not happily, I might add.

UPDATE: After several reboots, my mouse disconnect problem is solved.
The only change I made was the one described above, using the Power Management tab for the Dell Wireless Network Adapter, I cleared the check box to prevent powering off to save power.
So I assume this change solved the problem ... has not reoccurred since.
