Boot delay fixed!
Microsoft just released a patch that fixes the problem, along with some other problems.

Has anyone with a problem of wireless internet connections dropping tried this?
I read the specs but there wasn't really anything related to solving a problem of connections dropping.
I don't have my laptop with me, and won't for another week, but I was just wondering if this might solve the problem.
Cheers

1. time from pushing the power on - till getting to windows login
or
2. time from logging into windows till the time that all of your programs have loading up and you can actually use
the reason i ask - i have the 1400wifi (a,b,g) and ever since i installed norton corporate (business pre-req) the time from login to explorer loading has always been greater than 2 minutes (just blank, no start bar / sys tray / etc) and then everything loads up like there was nothing wrong
now there could have been something that messed up since i initially got the system and installed NAV corp 8.1 and the on boot that nav and the wifi software are kicking each other for control
i have a d800,1gb ram, 40gb 5400rpm hd, winxp sp1
i have found a way around this by rather than shutting down everytime i move - to put it in hibernate mode rather than rebooting 100 times a week when moving around
as a subnote: i have downloaded that patch and the wifi icon and nav icon dont seem to be fighting when they bootup - but there is still the long delay 1-2min between login screen and taskbar/systray actually load up

and WLTRYSVC.exe is part of the wifi driver for my 1400
i wonder if i reinstall that now that i have the winxp wifi patch; or wait for a newer version of the wifi driver from dell

yea, got it from windows update - but what i was wondering was if i should re-install the latest dell 1400 driver or wait for a new one that would take into consideration of this new microsoft driver.
just as when you update directX you should install the latest video drives after installing the latest directX

re-installed the A06 - R63259 driver version for the 1400wifi card
rebooted - and it takes about 1min rather than the 2min or so on boot - though the "Dell TrueMobile WLAN Card Utility" [the 4 rising bars that indicates signal strength in system tray] loads up almost instantly when the systray comes up after the 1min delay
the "wireless network connection" icon still takes 1min more till it comes up (as i am @ a location w/out wifi @ the moment, the disconnected network connection icon shows up, as what i am attempting to describe)

where before it would list the first error and then, i would assume, time out
does everyone else have this same log?
control panel / admin tools / event viewer
perhaps the new revision of the drivers from dell will allow for an instantanious bootup/login/systray load
as a sidenote for anyone who is using the v.3.20.23.0, A06 drivers for the 1400 - does the "Information" tab of the "Dell TrueMobile WLAN Card Utility" window
does its version "driver date" still read "6-13-2003" where as the drivers [both the file info and the date on the dell download site] to say 8/20/2003 for these drivers?
thanks again
