Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller Problems

My Dell Dimension 2400's Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller Ethernet card Only works at 10MB Half Duplex. I bought it in December, 2003, but I never realized it only works on 10MB because when I got the computer we set it up to be wireless, and now we finally got it wired and it doesn't work at 100MB, and I am disappointed.

Actually, about 2 years ago after i hated wireless (phone interfered with it) we tryed setting up a wired connection. It worked on all the computers in my home except for mine, because it wasn't set to 10MB (which i didn't know about..)

We have a cable modem, but behind a Linksys router. My brother can connect fine at 100MB, but i can't.

I know, but there should be a reason why my brother can connect at 100MB and I can't.

Are you just using this card to connect to a cable or dsl modem?  If so, the modem will only connect at 10 Mbps and furthermore will never provide speeds higher than about 6 Mbps.

Try reinstalling the drivers for the network adapter.  I assure, however, that it will not make one bit of difference in terms of your internet browsing speed.

So, what's the point?  A cable modem will never provide speed greater than about 6 Mbps anyway.

Try running the diagnostics on the network adapter.
