make sure power is going into the laptop when power is disconnected the internal card gets disabled. also check if u have quickset running. double click the blue q with the yellow sqiggle line near the clock and check settings in there for nic control power management hope some of this helps u
Thanks for the tip. I checked with quickset and it says the internal network card is currently active but the icon still shows the unit is unplugged. I've disabled the wireless connect just to see if that was interferring, but that wasn't it. I went into Command mode and did IPCONFIG and it showed the wireless had an IP address, the network card said Media not connected.
Have you tried running the diagnostics on the network adapter (Start > All Programs > Broadcom Advanced Control Suite)? When you reinstalled the drivers, did you first remove the network adaper from Device Manager, reboot, then reinstall the drivers? Have you checked any firewalls that you may have running to make sure that you have not indvertently set the firewall to block the connection?
I discovered this: when I move the display the problem occur. I think that there is some electrical contact that is not fully fixed.
Someone does it know how can I unmount the laptop to check electrical connections of the network interface??? Any unmounting instruction is available on the net about how to disassemble the inspiron 8600? I would like to solve this problem without causing damages :)

The problem turned out to be the Motherboard as I told the tech it was before he made me format my hd and reinstall windows!
It took too long to get through and get this thing fixed in my opinion. But, they did send someone and it works now...
