Broadcom and Belkin hub
I have a Mini 10v running Ubuntu. It has a Broadcom BCM 4132 wi-fi chipset. Last week at OpenSource Expo in London, I found I couldn't connect to the Belkin F6D4230-4 v1 router. Nothing wrong with the router - I could use it with my other laptop. When I got back, I bought the same router to test, and the fault is very repeatable. It exists with both the proprietary drivers and also with the Windows XP driver using ndiswrapper. Just wondered if this is a known fault? And does anyone know of a workaround?

I have now bought a wi-fi dongle. No problem with the Belkin router connection here. I need to flag up that the Broadcom BCM 4132 wi-fi chipset is not compatible with the Belkin F6D4230-4 v1 router (maybe other routers too?)

Maybe it's the Belkin Router. I have had problems with several Belkin products, including a router that I returned, and for that reason do not recommend Belkin to my clients.
I have a Samsung netbook with Broadcom and a Linksys (Cisco) g/n wireless router. Works without problems with the Linksys and also works without problems at McDonalds (whatever router they have) and at a recent stay at a Holiday Inn Express (whatever router they have).

Fireberd: maybe it is the Belkin Router - certainly I don't get the problem on Linksys or most other routers - but I get the Belkin just fine on my wife's (Dell with Boradcom) laptop, and on all other equipment I've tried. My wife's Laptop has a Broadcom wi-fi but it is a different chipset. I first came across the problem at a conference centre a few months ago. I had no idea what was causing it. Now I know that certain routers will not connect I can travel appropriately armed with the dongle!
