Broadcom NetXtreme causes boot delay
I have a new 8300 with a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet card running XP Pro. I have it connected to a DSL line. There is a delay of approximately two (2) minutes in the boot process and I have traced it through the events log. I think the problem is caused by the NIC. The messages and times in the log are as follows:
Event Source: b57w2k Event ID: 15 Broadcom NteXtreme Gigabit Ethernet: Dirve initialized successfully. 9:51:33 PM
Event Source: b57w2k Event ID: 6 Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet: Network controller configured for 10Mb half-duplex link. 9:51:33 PM
Event Source: Service Control Manager: Event ID: 7035 The Terminal Services service was successfully sent a start control. 9:54:05 PM
I tried changing the NIC from automatic to 10Mb half-duplex thinking it would not have to reconfigure to 10Mb, but it made no difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Mike

A Google search reveals the program causing this delay is svchost.exe.
Here is a description of this program:

You can read about it here and decide for yourself what's the best course of action (probably setting to manual will fix this):

Is there a way to shift the boot order around to make TCPIP boot first? Or another solution? I could not get the svchost solution listed above to work.
