what resolution screen are you using?

That is just an IE thing. Most browsers 'remember' their last configuration so when you open them, they resume the former window size.

IE opens in a window and must be brought to full screen size by clicking the square icon in the upper right corner. If that doesn't do it, drag the window edges with the mouse.

resolution is 1680x1050  - the problem is that the size of a web page inside the netscape window only fills half of the size of the netscape window.  The window is the full size of the screen but the web page is only half that size.  Help - it is very annoying!

hmm, if you used IE you could get things better using internet options>accessibility & check "ignore font sizes specified on web pages".
don't know if netscape has such an option.

Going to accessibility in internet option helped to increase the font size but the size of the web page still only fills have of the browser page.  For example this dell support page's right edge is in the middle of the browser window.  Any other ideas?  Thanks.  ps. I do run IE

Every page you look at? This page is supposed to be narrow. Is google.com not centered?

Many webpages are 'hard coded' for a particular resolution; often 1024 x 768. In short, there is nothing you can do to stretch the website to the entire width of a browser window. Such is the life of having a wide aspect screen.

You are right not every page I look at is this way.  Google is centered and a full page.   I guess it is so that certain pages are just hardwired this way - thanks.  I guess I should have awaited a resolution on this forum before calling Dell.  They had me reformat my system to the way it was when I took it out of the box and now I have re load programs and recustomize!  (it did not fix the problem.)

Okay if this is the case why does the dell support page come in full screen one computer but not another.  My laptop a number of web pages come in half screen but my computer at work or my desk top at home has them coming in full screen? Any ideas?  Thanks

The resolution of the screen that is showing full web pages is 800X600 - Do you think that is it?

Resolution is the key factor to how web pages will be displayed. 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 are two common resolutions web pages will be "hard-coded" at. For kicks, try changing the computer at 800 x 600 to something like 1280 x 1024 and see how the website looks.
