Browser windows automatically close

Question

In certain situations, when I attempt to advance into a website by clicking on a link, a new window opens, I hear a 'beep' alert, AND the previous window disappears.  This eliminates my ability to click on the previous window - because it's gone.  Internet Explorer says it's not a setting they can help me with, and that it's likely a 'system' setting.  Seems like it should be a simple fix, but I've been unable to find a solution.

Web browsers with tabbed interface give you another option, which is to open the new window in a new Tab or a new Window Maxthon Bon Echo alpha 2 FireFox Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview
