Building home network

Hi;

I'm trying to hook up my inspiron 6000 (wired) To my dimension 4700 (Wired) to a dial-up Connection. Do I need  a router, or hub? Or can I just use a cat. 5 cable and a telephone cable. Thanks

If both computers have an ethernet network card, you can connect them together using a special network cable called a cross-over cable.  Then enable Internet Connection Sharing on the computer that will always make the dialup connection.

Thanks Volcano;

So if I use a telephone cable to one and a cat 5 cable from that computer to another that should do it, connect the two computers to one dial-up connection? thats great! Happy Holiday's

Just make sure that the CAT5 cable is a cross-over cable (send and receive pins reversed on each end).
