Building home network
Hi;
I'm trying to hook up my inspiron 6000 (wired) To my dimension 4700 (Wired) to a dial-up Connection. Do I need a router, or hub? Or can I just use a cat. 5 cable and a telephone cable. Thanks

If both computers have an ethernet network card, you can connect them together using a special network cable called a cross-over cable. Then enable Internet Connection Sharing on the computer that will always make the dialup connection.

Just make sure that the CAT5 cable is a cross-over cable (send and receive pins reversed on each end).
